Discovering the Author In this task, you will be researching the author of The Hobbit, J. R. R. Tolkien. Unfortunately, the talented author has been deceased for decades. With the knowledge that you gain during your research, you will create a new obituary for Tolkien. The purpose of this task to for you to be able to see the events of the author's life and possibly make connections between those events and a component of the book, such as settings, characters, or even the plot.

Instructions: Investigate Tolkien's life. Research different aspects, such as his birth and death dates, immediate family, accomplishments, and of course, other books that he had authored. Research information on obituaries. Find out how and why they are made. Then look up some examples of obituaries to better understand what you are expected of accomplishing with this task. Create an obituary. Use the information that you have found to report the facts of his life, making a happy memory of not just a beloved author, but also a person.

Requirements: Must be at least three paragraphs with at least seven sentences each. Must give birth and death dates. Must give names of his immediate family, including but not limited to mother, father, siblings, wife, and children. Must tell of at least two events or accomplishments in his life outside of the writing field. Must tell of at least one accomplishment in his life in the writing field. These requirements are the minimum you are required to do. Feel free to expand to do more with this obituary.
