Role of the Local Authority in an Emergency To provide support to the Emergency Services To co-ordinate the work of the Support Organisations To provide shelter and refreshments to evacuees and survivors To co-ordinate the recovery phase Of course this is all done whilst maintaining essential Council functions and services, even if the Council is a victim……………..

Spontaneous Volunteering Planned Volunteering Spontaneous Volunteering Priority 1 organisations Priority 2 organisations Individual volunteers Individual volunteers These organisations will be the first organisations contacted in the event of an emergency There will be an ask for what supplies they can provide e.g. clothing, food, etc. They will provide a number of services e.g. transport, facilities, support and expected to lead on them They will be expected to manage the recruitment of internal volunteers and forward these to Bolton Council They will be first to be contacted in the event supplies are left over They may be asked to co-ordinate on the day

Spontaneous Volunteering Planned Volunteering Spontaneous Volunteering Priority 1 organisations Priority 2 organisations Individual volunteers Individual volunteers These organisations may or may not be contacted in an emergency There will be an ask for what they can provide e.g. clothing, food, etc. They will provide some services e.g. transport, facilities They will be asked to refer volunteers to us to help in the event of an emergency They may be contacted in the event supplies are left over They will take direction from co-ordinators

Spontaneous Volunteering Planned Volunteering Spontaneous Volunteering Priority 1 organisations Priority 2 organisations Individual volunteers Individual volunteers These will be individuals potentially called up on the day of an emergency to assist These will be trained via a training package This will be recruited by referrals inc self referral

Spontaneous Volunteering Planned Volunteering Spontaneous Volunteering Priority 1 organisations Priority 2 organisations Individual volunteers Individual volunteers These will be people who turn up on the day to help – usually by bringing donations or offering assistance They will be required to sign up as a volunteer This will be managed by the Red Cross Thy may potentially be turned away

Process for organisations / volunteers sign up Organisation Registration Form Volunteer Registration Form(s) Complete the registration form and return to BC/CVS BC/CVS adds the return to the organisation database as well as highlighting whether they are a priority 1 or 2 organisation or not Return pack to organisation which will include training pack and a detailed briefing note (depending on priority) Return pack to individual volunteers which will include training pack and a detailed briefing note Organisations/volunteers confirm they have undertaken the training Organisation Training pack Organisation Training pack Individual
