[Read slide] We are excited to partner with you in this project and work together to further develop the skills, expertise and quality care that you are providing.

Learning Session 1

Learning Objectives Explain the need for developmental surveillance and screening in ECE programs through Vermont’s System for Universal Developmental Screening Describe how to administer the ASQ-3, a standardized developmental screening tool, and interpret the results Identify effective communication techniques to discuss a child’s developmental progression with families Explain the importance of culturally responsive practices and communication with families Describe a model to support change and improvement in your ECE program Share best practice recommendations for developmental monitoring, developmental screening, and follow up activities So now that we have a general overview of the process, we are going to dive into the content of the day. Together we are going to: Learn about why developmental screening is important, how to conduct a screening with a validated tool (ASQ), how developmental screening fits into the ECE setting, and how to use quality improvement methods to make and measure changes
