Do now: Take out H.W. and leave on desk. What is the median age for the following data set representing the ages of students requesting tickets for a summer band concert? Explain your reasoning. 13 14 15 15 16 16 17 18 18

Objective: I will be able to: Display numerical data in plots on a number line, including box plots. I will also be able to summarize numerical data sets in relation to their context, such as by: giving quantitative measures of center (median) and variability (interquartile range). So that I can learn how to: calculate the median of the data and determine the 5-number summary and apply that information to create and describe box and whisker plots. I will show that I understood it by verbally discussing with my partners and then writing the solutions to complete at least 2 box and whisker graphs based on real world problems with at least 80% accuracy. 6.SP. Box plots- you try. Go to page 95, and complete example 2 using your notes from pg. 94.

How do you feel? topic.

Human Box plot Given the length of names of students in our class, you will write the 5 number summary by finding the data set’s minimum, Q1, Q2, Q3, and the maximum

Remember: Organize your data Find the median of the group Find the maximum and minimum of the group. Find Q1 and Q3 Sketch the box plot

Working with your groups, complete your packet, what you don’t finish will be your homework.

How do you feel? topic.

I can use my examples to help! Homework: Finish packet

Exit Ticket Create a box plot using the following data: 7, 5, 11, 6, 8, 12, 2, 18, 23, 37.

Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
