The Inheritance 1 Peter 1:3-5
Christians Are Heirs Of God One becomes a child of God by a new birth (1 Peter 1:22-23) God’s children are heirs of God (Rom. 8:16-17) Justified by His grace through hope (Eph. 3:6)
The Nature Of This Inheritance It means salvation (5) FROM a world of sin, suffering, death (Rev. 21:4) TO a position of glory and honor (Rom. 2:7). It is imperishable {incorruptible} (4) All in this realm gone one day (2 Peter 3:10-13) Our inheritance is permanent (Lk. 12:33). It will be undefiled Separated from anything that defiles (Rev. 21:27) “There’s a land that is fairer than day”
The Nature Of This Inheritance It is unfading (4) Things here wear out, grow old, the beauty fades In heaven all things are new (Rev. 21:1-2) It is reserved (4) A prepared place (Heb. 11:16) It is “laid away” for us (Col. 1:5)
The Assurance Of This Inheritance Hope based on the resurrection of Christ (3) He was no mere man (Rom. 1:4) We hope to be raised too (1 Cor. 6:14; 15:20-23) The inheritance is protected {guarded} by God’s power and our faith (5) He will keep what is committed (2 Tim. 1:12) He will keep us safe (2 Tim. 4:18)
