C aim – to explain the key points B/A aim – to explain the key points in detail What economic problems did they Germany to solve in 1933? P. 213 – How did the economy affect the development of Nazi Germany?

What was the Nazis main economic priority? Rearmament and autarky Why was it this? What consequences would it have?

Recovery – Jobs P. 216

Recovery – Financing Schacht

Recovery – balance of trade Problems Danger of inflation as there was increased demand and increased money supply Solved through the 1934 New Plan and government controls

What would the situation be like in 1936? Would there be any problems?

Infighting! Schacht – wanted to boost exports and slow rearmament as there was still a risk of inflation as there was higher wages which created higher demand and increasing prices and higher government spending, boosting exports would reduce domestic demand. It was also too difficult to import that many raw materials. The government was getting into more debt as they were spending so much money on rearmament. Germany couldn’t maintain autarky as the current rate. Goering and Hitler wanted to remove the risk of inflation by accelerating rearmament and solve the problem of inflation through war, if they won Germany would get larger and stronger so could manage a larger economy, and if they won resources and money would go into winning the war effort. The government was getting into more debt as they were spending so much money on rearmament. Hitler and Goering wanted to solve this by ensuring there was a return on this spending, by ensuring there would be war. Germany could maintain autarky if they expanded. Who would win? What does this show you about Nazi leadership?

List the main ways that Germany recovered Write down the legacy this would leave
