FEMA National Business Emergency Operations Center (NBEOC) Initiatives for 2015 Jeanie Moore Director, (Acting) Office of External Affairs Private Sector Division 16 March 2015

What we are we working on Business Emergency Operations Center Webinar Series NBEOC Communities of Practice Portal WebEOC for Private Sector Slide 2 - What we are working on   Thank you for allowing time for me to share with you some of the key National Business Emergency Operations Center initiatives that we’re working on for 2015. I’d like to highlight three noteworthy projects we’re working on and also some additional background on each of them.

BEOC Webinar Series Peer to Peer Information Sharing for new and mature BEOCs. Sharing of best practices and lessons learned Information could be used for future efforts to develop guide for BEOCs, in coordination with FEMA’s National Integration Center 2015 Webinar Schedule – May/July/Sept/Oct Slide 3 – BEOC Webinar Series   The first project is a BEOC Webinar Series. We’ve developed a series of webinars, focused on sharing tools and tips for those looking to establish a Business Emergency Operations Center (BEOC) or another form of disaster-oriented Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in their state or community. We use a virtual forum which provides a peer-to-peer relationship building opportunity, bringing together emergency managers and responders to discuss common challenges and best practices with current operational BEOC/PPP managers and to establish an ongoing networking forum among managers and subject matter experts from across the country on a regular basis. This includes those who are currently running a BEOC or planning to develop a partnership at the State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial levels, and ensuring connections to respective FEMA Region Private Sector Liaison. For planning purposes, we’ve built a projected schedule of meetings for CY2015 to share with our partners and provide ample time to for them to prepare to join our events.

NBEOC Communities of Practice Portal Virtual networking forum Current and future partners of NBEOC Easily accessible, online discussion board that allows partners to: interact frequently share ideas & best practices develop & improve BEOCs around the nation Slide 4 – NBEOC Communities of Practice Portal   Our second project is the NBEOC Communities of Practice Portal. The National Business Emergency Operations Center Communities of Practice Portal is a virtual networking forum for current and future members of the National Business Emergency Operations Center and is used to facilitate the National Conversation on building and maturing Business Emergency Operation Centers across the country. This forum will be used by members to exchange information and best practices with peers from across both the public and private sectors. It will also be used to collaborate and find solutions to common challenges and questions, as well as lessons learned, and emerging technologies related to disaster response. Information shared and collected through these collaborations could potentially be used for future efforts to develop a general guide with tips and guidance toward establishment of Business Emergency Operations Center.

WebEOC for Private Sector Developing a base framework to offer private sector partners the ability to share location/operating status information PS organizations will have individual accounts and the ability to update Partner with Private Sector early and start small Accessible across devices Capable of enhanced information sharing Slide 5 – WebEOC for Private Sector Our third project is WebEOC for the Private Sector. In collaboration with FEMA’s Response Directorate, we’re developing a base framework on a common information sharing platform, WebEOC, to display private sector location/status information in the National Response Coordination Center during a response to an event or disaster. Private sector organizations that chose to partner in this initiative will have individual accounts and the ability to update their respective location(s) operating status in potentially affected area(s) leading up to and after an event. The plan is to partner early with the Private Sector and get their input on what information they’re willing to share and to determine levels of access for visibility (i.e Regions, States). Private Sector organizations will only be able to see their information. WebEOC is also accessible across multiple devices, i.e. smartphones, tablets, etc… and is capable of consuming enhanced information as we mature our relationships with our private sector partners.
