MND Act III Scene i “I just know, before this is over, I’m going need a whole lot of serious therapy.”

Today’s Focus Questions Goals From the attitude and actions of the workmen/actors in this act, do you think Shakespeare treats them with respect, condescension, or a little of both? How does Shakespeare play with language to create humor? What is meant by “reason and love keep little company together nowadays”? Is this still true for today? Preview the act by looking at the comic version Watch the movie version (act 3 scene 1 only) Begin completing Act 3 activity packet

Before you read Think of a time when you got so involved in a play, movie, video game, tv show, music, etc. you temporally forgot that is was not real. Talk to other classmates and share examples of experiences. What was it like? What happened when you “came back” to reality?

Enter We use the comic version to help remind us that the mechanics/actors are supposed to be… comical. However, we must remember they are preforming a very serious play: Pyramus and Thisbe. Review the comic version of Act III scene i Determine and discuss the following: Which plotline(s) are presented? What is happening before Puck interrupts? How and Why does Puck interrupt? How do you think Oberon will feel about what has happened?

Explore We are going to watch the movie version for this scene You can follow along with the lines from the text (if you didn’t finish reading yesterday) Continue to answer questions in the Act 3 packet Analyzing literature #1 Bottom the Ass This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA
