New Committee Structure

Council-Committee Relationship makes the final decision on all matters Committees: gather information and input on topics within the committee’s mandate as directed by Council provide advice and recommendations to Council on matters in their mandate act as a committee under an Act if required

Operations Committee Mandate Billy Bishop Airport Asset Management Corridor Control Development, Servicing and Public Works Drainage and Stormwater Management Engineering Design And Construction Environmental Sustainability Fleet Acquisition, Operation and Maintenance On Street Parking Public Transit Roads and Bridges Solid Waste Management and Landfills Streetlighting Traffic Control Water Treatment and Distribution Wastewater Collection and Treatment

Operations Committee Responsibilities Provide advice and recommendations to Council Host public meetings or open houses as directed by Council. Provide advice to Council on matters relating to the development, implementation and performance of work plans and programs Oversee the implementation of the strategic plan Monitor and evaluate operational performance of programs and services Hear appeals from members of the public relating to decisions made i.e. specialized transit eligibility, etc.

Preparing for a Meeting Meeting Dates listed on the yearly calendar Meeting Agenda Items being discussed will be included in the agenda Agendas published 3 calendar days before the meeting (Friday for Corporate Services) Accessing an agenda on CivicWeb

Board and Committee By-law Preparation please review your agenda in preparation of a meeting Attendance notify the committee secretary if you cannot attend a meeting members are expected to attend all meetings a member is deemed to have resigned if absent from 3 consecutive meetings without notice

Code of Conduct Gifts and Benefits Confidentiality do not accept fees, gifts, hospitality or personal benefits connected with your duties Confidentiality all information, documentation or deliberations from closed session meetings is confidential do not disclose or release any confidential information acquired by virtue of your office

Code of Conduct Influence on Staff Discrimination and Harassment staff work for the City and make recommendations that reflect their professional expertise only Council as a whole can direct staff direct concerns about staff to the City Manager Discrimination and Harassment abide by the Ontario Human Rights Code harassment and violence directed at another Member, staff or the public is unacceptable
