Using Line, Pattern & Movement Sketchbook Design Using Line, Pattern & Movement

Notice how the design has a bold solid letter in center. Look at how the lines and patterns create movement.

The Elements & Principles The main Element of Art we will focus on is Line, how will you arrange your design to create a dynamic pattern utilizing Line. The main Principles of Art we will focus on are Pattern and Movement. You must create your initial in the center & have your design of Line and pattern in the background.

Criteria for Success: Sketchbook Design The students will… Use Line, Pattern and Movement in creating their design. Use Line and Pattern effectively Use excellent Craftsmanship in creating their sketchbook design. Use 1 additional Element of Art in their design. Use 1 additional Principle of Art in their design.

Procedure 1. Construct your sketchbook. 2. In your sketchbook draw 3 different sketches of possible designs that demonstrate the use of line, pattern and movement. 3. Decide which of the 3 sketches is your best design. Draw this on your 5x7 piece of sketch paper.
