The Resurrection is Our Hope

1 Corinthians 15:12-19 – “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up,

if so be that the dead rise not if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

1 Corinthians 15:19 – “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Mark 8:36 – “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

I. The Resurrection is Our Hope of Grace

Genesis 6:8 – “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”

John 1:17 – “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Titus 2:11 – “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.”

Hebrews 2:9 – “That He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”

Different kinds of grace • Saving grace • Sustaining grace • Serving grace • Securing grace

I Corinthians 15:10 – “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but by the grace of God which was with me.”

II. The Resurrection is Our Hope of Mercy

Exodus 34:6,7 – “And the Lord God passed before him, the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.”

Lamentations 3:22-24 – “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul, therefore will I hope in Him.”

Romans 11:32 – “For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that He might have mercy upon all.”

Titus 3:5 – “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.”

III. The Resurrection is Our Hope of Salvation

Romans 1:16 – “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.”

I Corinthians 2:2 – “For determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.”

I Corinthians 15:3,4 – “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

I Corinthians 15:21,22 – “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

IV. The Resurrection is Our Hope for the Future

I Corinthians 15:19 – “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

Philippians 1:21 – “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Titus 2:13 – “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”

I Peter 1:3-5 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance

incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

For the Christian everything stands or falls on the Resurrection: ₋ The resurrection proves He is the Son of God ₋ The resurrection attests to the truth of Scripture ₋ The resurrection assures us of a future resurrection

For the Christian everything stands or falls on the Resurrection: ₋ The resurrection is proof of future judgment ₋ The resurrection is the basis of our future inheritance

Acts 1:3 – “To whom He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of things pertaining to the kingdom of God.”
