Competition Broadly Covers 5 Business Sectors Finance Business Administration Management Information Systems Digital Communication & Design Management, Marketing, & Communication

Pre-Judged Competitions Several contests are pre-judged. Judges for these projects will receive the team’s project prior to attending the conference for technical scoring. Scores will be emailed prior to the conference for input on the contest rubric and will be added to the team's oral presentation score at the scheduled contest time.

Finance Economic Research Project Individual One economic research topic is selected by the National Business Professionals of America and provided at the beginning of the school year. The student will conduct research on the topic and present findings in a research paper, an oral presentation, and respond to questions from a panel of judges. Pre-Judged

Finance Financial Analyst Team Teams will use analytical and problem-solving skills to make decisions and recommendations using financial reports, both internal and external. The team analyzes and interprets computer reports from a business case study. The team will present their report to the judges.

Business Administration Administrative Support Research Individual One administrative support topic is selected by National Business Professionals of America and provided at the beginning of the school year. The student will conduct research on the topic and present findings in a research paper, an oral presentation, and respond to questions from a panel of judges. Pre-Judged

Management Information Systems Network Design Team The team will analyze existing and planned business environments and develop a strategy for the implementation of a network infrastructure that addresses the need of the defined business environment. The team will present their network infrastructure to the judges. Pre-judged

Management Information Systems Visual Basic/C# Programming The student will evaluate knowledge of working with Visual Basic syntax, programming logic, program development, system design concepts, database, designers, and objects. Judges/Graders will grade on screen as student shows program execution.

Management Information Systems C++ Programming The student will evaluate knowledge of working with structured designs, algorithms, and OOP methodology using the C++ language. Judges/Graders will grade on screen as student shows program execution.

Management Information Systems Java Programming The student will evaluate knowledge of working with structured design, algorithms, and OOP methodology using the Java language. Judges/Graders will grade on screen as student shows program execution.

Digital Communication & Design Graphic Design Promotion The student will develop a theme, illustrate the theme in a logo design, then utilize the logo in a promotional flyer. Pre-Judged

Digital Communication & Design Digital Media Production The student will create a one to two minute digital media production based upon an assigned topic.

Digital Communication & Design Computer Modeling Given a scenario or prompt, Computer Modeling will research the topic, create a profile, concept design(s), and final model and/or scene based upon the assigned topic provided. For example, a new Pixar© type character made of metal; an opening scene to support a new sci-fi movie; an office chair designed for the year 2050, etc.

Digital Communication & Design Video Production Team The student will create a three to five minute video production based upon an assigned topic.

Digital Communication & Design Web Site Design Team The team will work together to create a web site based on an assigned topic. Pre-Judged

Digital Communication & Design Computer Animation Team A team will create a 3-D visualization animation (not to exceed two minutes) based upon an assigned topic.

Digital Communication & Design Broadcast News Production Team The team will create a three to five minute video production based upon an assigned topic. Pre-Judged

Management, Marketing & Communication Global Marketing Team The team will develop a plan that details pricing strategies and promotional plans for a business. Pre-Judged

Management, Marketing & Communication Entrepreneurship The student will develop an operating plan and organizational structure to initiate a small business. Competitors are to assume they are presenting their business plan to potential investors at a bank with the objective of securing financing for their business venture. Pre-Judged

Management, Marketing & Communication Small Business Management Team The team will use strategic planning and problem-solving skills to provide solutions to the business case provided. The team will deliver their conclusions to the judges.

Management, Marketing & Communication Interview Skills The student will assess proficiency in job search and interview situations. Pre-Judged

Management, Marketing & Communication Advanced Interview Skills The student will assess proficiency in job search, interview situations, and portfolio development. Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Extemporaneous Speech The student will demonstrate communication skills in arranging, organizing, and effectively presenting information orally without prior knowledge of the topic.

Management, Marketing & Communication Human Resource Management The student will assess interpretation of personnel policies and knowledge of human resource management.

Management, Marketing & Communication Prepared Speech The student will demonstrate communication skills in securing, arranging, organizing, and presenting an informative speech.

Management, Marketing & Communication Parliamentary Procedure Team The team will demonstrate the use of correct parliamentary procedure through a chairman’s ability to conduct a business meeting in a democratic manner that allows the members of the team to effectively participate. The team’s knowledge of parliamentary procedure will be examined through oral questions and an objective test. Registered Parliamentarians preferred
