Nuclear Processes Fusion: combination of smaller nuclei into larger nuclei. Requires A LOT of energy, and is how synthetic elements are made. Naturally occurs in stars. Particle accelerators are used to create new elements as well as study the ones we know. FISSION: is the splitting of atomic nuclei, which gives off much energy. This process produces a lot of radiation.
