Late Arrival/Sign In i.e.: overslept, missed rides, appointments, etc. *Anything after 8:25am Students should report to the office first with a note from a parent/guardian Office personnel will give the student a note to class and will adjust attendance in PowerSchool if necessary
In Case of Absence i.e.: illness, appointments, etc. Student should bring a note to the front office upon his/her return to be coded into PowerSchool by front office staff Student should check with his/her teachers via email or immediately upon return to gather missed material
Planned Extended Absences i.e.: planned vacations, educational opportunities, surgeries, etc. Prior approval should be acquired by emailing the principal: Teresa_Faucette@abss.k12.nc.us
Frequent Absences i.e.: not coming to school regularly Notices are sent home at every 3rd, 6th, and 10th consecutive absence Parent/Guardian conferences will be requested More than 10 unexcused absences in a course could result in denial of course credit For children under the age of 16 the courts can become involved
Check Out Students will only be released to adults who are designated as a pick-up person in PowerSchool Adults must come into the front office to have the student called for and released
Grades Grading is done on a 10 point scale 60 is the lowest passing grade Grades are updated in PowerSchool Mrs. Lynthacum is the contact for the parent portal Emailing teachers
GPA and Honors Weights A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0 Advanced and Honors courses receive an additional 0.5 quality point Advanced Placement (AP) courses receive 1.0 additional quality point First GPA will appear on student transcripts in the winter for semester classes and at the end of the year for year-long

NC Academic Scholars Students must... begin planning for the program before entering grade 9 to ensure they obtain the most flexibility in their courses. complete all the requirements of the Academic Scholars Program. have an overall 4-year un-weighted grade point average of 3.50. complete all requirements for a NC High School Diploma.
