Types of Fiction

Do Now: Please answer the following question in a short paragraph in your Reader’s Notebooks. Think about a fiction novel that you have read recently that you really enjoyed. Please explain what type of “fiction” novel it is, and what the novel was about. Be sure you include information about the stories major conflict and characters.

Focus: How can we identify the different types of fiction? Fiction is an umbrella term. We use this to describe stories that are made up by an author. Turn and Talk What types of fiction are you familiar with?

Focus: How can we identify the different types of fiction? Fiction- a story that is made up by the author Realistic fiction A made up story that could have really happened. Fantasy A made up story about magic and/or supernatural forms. Example: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
