AGS Study Session 5 Study Report and Proposal on in Berlin at AGS by J. Yoshio

Study After AGS in May, Yoshio formed the study group in JEITA, this group has been studying SS5 issues. AGS recommendation was; 7. AGS requests the leader of Study Session 5 to engage with international experts of TC100 and other bodies and clarify the TC100 strategy for standardization of car navigation and network in car. 8. AGS requests Study Session 5 to continue to engage with the Fully networked car of WSC.

Study results outline The study group analyzes the present situation, studies them. The results are; It seems no item regarding car to be standardized immediately. But, interface specification GVIF is applied to car system, JNC will proposed it to IEC as a general interface not only for car use. There might be many items regarding car to be standardized in TC100 in the future. Not only for car navigation and network in car. However some possible items have already been de facto or private specification and applied to car products. Need study what to be standardized in TC100. Home or mobile AV&IT equipment is used in car as it is. Some of them are not intended to be used in car circumstances, maybe need specifications for using in car.

Study results outline (cont.) There are some standards made by other organization than TC100, they will affect existing or future TC100 standard. Nomadic device (CAN gateway): ISO TC204 Data interface in power charging line: IEC TC69 ITS devices, system: ISO TC204 Existing TC100 standard is used by car system. Ethernet AVB (IEEE) will be the core specification of AV interface protocol in car, AVB applies IEC to 8 (TA4). Unofficial agreement between AVB and SS5 Yoshio, the liaison will proposed at TA4 meeting. IEC is used for car camera video signal transmission.

Proposal Start the study group of SS5, with international attendees. Study the following. TC100 standardization strategy. Survey of present situation and requirement. Liaison with related organization. Ask AGS members to assign person to this study group. Assumed scope of the future standardization group in TC100 of car issues. Make international standard of AV&IT multimedia systems and equipment for car use. It is for infotainment in car use including communication with outside and inside of car.

Supplementary explanation of the study in JEITA

The study group in JEITA reported the following: TC100 standardization issue regarding EV or Vehicle has a close relation with the following issues. EV power charging (IEC TC69) It contains data communication between inside and outside of car. ITS and its advanced system (ISO TC204) Car navigation Smartphone and its application Network and digital interface AV&IT infotainment equipment These issues are already items of the existing standardization bodies other than TC100. Within TC100, some issue is the item of existing TC. Supplementary explanation of the study in JEITA (cont.)

There is no item regarding car to be standardized immediately, however we recognized there are many items to be standardized in the future. Especially, regarding network and interface, the followings are the items. GVIF, JNC will propose it to TA4. IEEE1722 uses IEC ~8, liaison proposal will be discussed at TA4. ISO TC204 WG17 Nomadic device defines CAN gateway, Yoshio communicate with WG17 in Japan. The study session 5 is just started, it is not known that IEC TC100 studies standardization regarding EV and vehicle. Other standardization body take care of car items to be standardized in TC100.
