We will wrap up testing on Tuesday with our math benchmark. Math This week we will continue our unit on fractions. Our focus will be on adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators, decomposing fractions. We will review simplifying, finding equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Language Arts This week we will continue to focus on the skill of idioms. During reading, we will learn how to develop thoughtful questions and inferences while reading, focusing on thinking beyond the text to notice bigger ideas. We will also review basic story elements (character, plot, cause/effect, problem/solution, etc.) In writing, we will begin our individualized informative chapter books. The students will choose between an animal/insect or natural disaster to research and write their chapter book about. Science We will do part 2 of our rocks, soil and landforms unit.
