International Society for Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Nucleic Acids http://www.is3na.org Imbach-Townsend Award Supported by a grant from Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The recipient of the 2014 IS3NA Imbach-Townsend Award is Prof. Piet Herdewijn (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Rega Institute, Belgium) due to his outstanding accomplishments in the field of Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Oligonucleotides

International Society for Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Nucleic Acids http://www.is3na.org . 2014 Imbach-Townsend Award-Winner: Prof. Piet Herdewijn By awarding the 2014 IS3NA Imbach-Townsend Award to Prof. Piet Herdewijn, the IS3NA Society would honor and express their deep appreciation for his fundamental contributions mainly in: the development of nucleoside derivatives with antiviral (AIDS chemotherapy) and antitumoral activity, the development of oligonucleotides for chemotherapeutic and diagnostic purposes, and more recently, the development of the first bacterial organisms whose genome is slightly different from the canonical A,C,T,G natural system, as well as to the first demonstration of using artificial information systems (XNA) in bacterial cells.
