Northwest Kidder Middle School 2014-2015 Advisory Northwest Kidder Middle School 2014-2015

Introduction of advisor WHO AM I? WHAT DO I TEACH? A LITTLE ABOUT ME…

Why advisory ADVISORY BY DEFINITION" An advisory is an organized group of one adult and a group of kids that serves as the students' first line of affiliation in their school,” Ensure than each student is known well at school by at least one adult who is that youngster's advocate (advisor). Guarantee that every student belongs to a peer group. To help every student find ways of being successful within the academic and social options the school provides. Promote communication and coordination between home and school.

ADVISORY STRUCTURE Weekly 25 Minutes Every Wednesday Beginning of the School Day (7:25-7:50) Multi Grade Level Advisees are randomly assigned to Advisors

Advisory ground rules One person speaks at a time. Show respect of other people’s ideas and opinions. All must agree to disagree in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Stay positive. Give each person the right to have and express his/her own view. All must listen; no put-downs or mocking. Allow time for everyone to speak; no one should be excluded for any reason If a classmate shares confidential information, please keep in advisory group. Protect classmates right to privacy.
