Law Of Superposition Law of geochronology, the youngest layer is on top and the oldest on bottom, each l ayer being younger than the onebeneat h it and older than the one above it.

Fossil Evidence Essentially clues that have been left behind by various forms of living things. They are instrumental tools for understanding the diverse groups of organisms that have inhabited our planet at one time or another.

Index Fossils A fossil that is useful for dating and correlating the strata in which it is found.

Folding Is a type of earth movement resulting from the horizontal compression of rock layers by internal forces of the earth along plate boundaries.

Geological Time The succession of eras, periods,  and epochs as considered in histo rical geology.
