1. Overview of the project Signed MoU on 30 December 2012 Project team: 7 staffs 1 national consultant 3 national workshops on development indicators and MDGs 2 trainings on DevInfo 7 and metadata 1 publicity event .

2. Results of the project VietnamInfo was updated to DevInfo 7 Total 70 selected indicators (44 MDGs indicators) to be shared with UN. Of which 60 indicators mapped with CountryData, including 40 MDGs indicators All selected indicators are associated with metadata, some of them with explanation of discrepancy 10 indicators left due to unavailability of DSD

2. Results of the project A metadata Handbook is developed and included in VietnamInfo database which links to GSO’s official website DevInfo 7 and SDMX are introduced to many GSO’s staffs and statisticians from line ministries 10 indicators left due to unavailability of DSD

3. Challenges Depend on ministries when collecting data such as health and environment data Revise and determine reliable data sources due to multi-sources available

3. Challenges Not all metadata are available, thus such it takes time to look for sources to develop new ones Much effort made in standardizing the metadata of some indicators which are specific for Vietnam, facilitating the comparison of discrepancies with international standards

3. Challenges Difficult to access international metadata so as to make correct mapping with national indicators and explain the discrepancies Take much time in finding information to explain descrepancy

3. Challenges Weakness in IT and language proficiency Face problem in time arrangement between IT and statisticians due to long geographical distance.

4. Opportunities National Dissemination Policy on official Statistics issued by Prime Minister Implementing this project is a good chance to access to new knowledge on SDMX and DevInfo, serving dissemination activity Completion of GSO’s current statistical database

4. Opportunities (2) Application of SDMX model in sharing data between GSO and PSOs and between GSO and ministries Expansion of sharing National Statistical Indicators System (both MDGs and non- MDGs indicators)

Lesson Learnt Enhance the aware of data dissemination for data producers Explaine that Project benifits for both data users and procedures Improve the IT capacity for staff include updating the DevInfo software Best and closely cooperation with line Ministries Actively technical assisstance to line ministries 5/12/2019
