Presentation transcript:

CED-1 is a protein that localizes to the plasma membrane that affects engulfment of dead cells that acts in engulfing cells that recognizes apoptotic cells All of the above

What is the evidence for CED-1 acting in engulfing cells? Genetic mosaic analysis Double mutant analysis Its molecular identity as a membrane protein CED-1::GFP clusters around apoptotic cells Comparison of the rescuing activity of CED-1 when expressed in dying cells or engulfing cells in the ced-1(lf) mutants

CED-1::GFP clustering around apoptotic cells depends on CED-1 interaction with CED-7 CED-1 interaction with CED-6 CED-1 interaction with CED-2 CED-1 interaction with phospholipids on the surface of apoptotic cells CED-1 extracellular domain and transmembrane domain.

CED-1 intracellular domain is Dispensable for recognition of apoptotic cells Important for cell corpse engulfment Shorter than its extracellular domain Potential target for phosphorylation All of the above
