October 1-5 Kelly.Randolph@henry.k12.ga.us Davida.lyons@henry.k12.ga.us October 4: ~PINK out Day! PINK out Cancer! ~Amazing Moms @ 7:15 am ~Class poetry recitation October 5: Field Trip money Due October 8: NO School (Teacher Work Day) October 19: Field Trip! Parents, We are in the process of assessing students on their sight words. We appreciate your patience as we adjust to the new program. We are excited for our students to begin working on sight words. They will be forthcoming soon!  If you are planning to chaperone the field trip to Southern Belle Farm, please send a message to your child’s teacher through Class Dojo. (Please remember that due to limited seating, chaperones will not be able to ride the bus to the farm). The trip will be an excellent opportunity for a hands-on learning experience and to build community in our class family! What are we learning this week? I can ask and answer questions about a text. I can identify the character, setting, and main events in stories. I can describe the relationship between the words and illustrations in the stories I read. I can print letters. I can name all upper and lowercase letters. I can follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. I know that spoken words are represented by specific sequences of letters. I know that words are separated by spaces in print. I can ask questions to compare and sort objects made of different materials. I can use my senses and science tool to classify objects by one or more characteristics. I can count to 100 by ones and tens. I can write numbers 0-20. I can count forward from any given number. I can classify objects into given categories. I can explain that maps and globes show views from above. I can explain that a map is a drawing of a place and a globe is a model of Earth. I can differentiate between water and land features on simple maps and globes. I can observe different features of maps and globes in order to compare and contrast them.
