St. Mary

Mary, a Greek name from The Hebrew Miriam means: Strong

Two Important verses “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Gen 3:15) the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel (Isa. 7:14)

The Annunciation (Announcement) of Jesus’ Birth To St The Annunciation (Announcement) of Jesus’ Birth To St. Mary Luke 1:26-38

The Annunciation (Announcement) of Jesus’ Birth To St The Annunciation (Announcement) of Jesus’ Birth To St. Mary Luke 1:26-38 Saviour 3 corners in St. Mary’s Life: 1- The Facts of her life (1:26-28): Virgin. (Betrothed) to Joseph=pledged to be married to. -St. Mary was a young teenager Lived in Nazareth

(1) This couldn't happen because I'm not intimate with a man; or 2-The Wonder in St. Mary's Mind (1:31-34) 1-What does she mean? (1) This couldn't happen because I'm not intimate with a man; or (2) How will God accomplish this, since the normal means of pregnancy isn't available? What the Angel announced was supernatural. A miracle. The response can be either (1) miracles just don't happen, so prove it to me (1:18), the response of unbelief, or (2) Wow! That's amazing! How will it happen? the response of wonder and faith.

3-The Submission in St. Mary's Spirit (1:35-38) She literally answered: I am the Lord's servant May it be to me as you have said Here is a teenager facing misunderstanding and rejection from her family, her betrothed, and her townspeople. And yet she agrees Are you a servant or a master? Do you have the spirit of submission.

St. Mary Visits Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56)

Why Did she go to Elizabeth? She also went to help her. Mary is confused -- at least you would be if you were Mary. Who can she talk to about this? Her mother? Her rabbi? The only person she knows who will be able to understand her is relative Elizabeth. The angel has told Mary: "Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God." (1:36-37)

A Long Journey We don't know the name of the town where Elizabeth and Zechariah lived. But the journey was probably about 80 to 100 miles and would probably take St. Mary three to four days.

The Baby Leaped in Elizabeth's Womb (1:41) “Note Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit” How could Elizabeth know that St. Mary's child was the Lord? The power of the Holy Spirit upon her gave her special knowledge of Mary's condition, and, and faith. Blessed Are You Among Women (1:42-44) Note it says” in a Loud Voice”

Blessed is Mary the Believer (1:45) Elizabeth has sudden insight also into Mary's faith: "Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!" (1:45). While Elizabeth's husband had doubted what the Lord had told him -- and was mute because of it -- Mary had believed. This very trip south to Judea was evidence of her belief, for she was acting it out, coming to visit the one person whom God had prepared to help her -- Elizabeth.

The Famous St. Mary’s Praise (Luke 1:46-55) Praise for God's Blessing (1:46-49) In a Holy Spirit-inspired speech. Her first words are an utterance of praise to God for his awesome blessings to her, and sound very similar to the inspired Psalms of the Old Testament. She, who was a country girl in a village -- that's pretty humble -- is now one whom all generations will remember and give thanks for

Praise for God's Salvation for His People (1:49-55) While the first section of St. Mary's psalm of praise gives praise to God, the second recounts some of the examples of God's saving acts towards Israel
