Finding Patterns 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Take a look at the sequence of numbers above. The range between the “first two” numbers is?

2! 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Now look at the other numbers, it goes up by two, each time. That is this pattern!

Lets do some more examples… 4, 8, 16, 32 Try and find a number that it gets multiplied by, or added by, each time, to help you find a pattern. It gets multiplied by two each time! So the next number is…?

Can you find the pattern in this one… 64! Can you find the pattern in this one… 1, 4, 9, ? What is the next number?

16 Because 1x1= 1 and 2x2= 4 and 3x3= 9 so, 4x4= 16 Do you see the pattern?

You can figure out little techniques to help you find patterns. But you have to “Think Fast” !

And now… 10 Practice Questions

Question # 1 Find the next number. 14, 17, 20, 23, ?

Question # 2 Find the next number. 3, 6, 12, 24, ?

Question # 3 Find the next number. 1.6, 2.1, 2.6, ?
