Creative Lantern Making Competition 2018 Mid-Autumn Festival - 22 September 2010 Mid-Autumn Festival Creative Lantern Making Competition 2018

Objectives To create awareness on the importance of conservation. To express creativity.

Theme The theme is Save the Planet Earth

an expression of what a smart nation is to you Your Task Make a lantern an expression of what a smart nation is to you

What do you have to do? To make a lantern using recycled materials. To work with YOUR PARENTS or YOUR CLASSMATES

Guidelines CREATIVITY and ORIGINALITY Reused or recycled plastic materials as the MAIN MATERIAL. (eg plastic bottles) Egg crates, straws, buttons etc can be used as DECORATION.

Guidelines Capture the ESSENCE of the theme. NO RESTRICTION on the no. of recycled materials use. The lantern size should be AT LEAST 40CM ON ONE SIDE either length, breadth or height.

Guidelines Should NOT weigh MORE THAN 3KG. Provide SHORT DESCRIPTION. LABEL the lantern and submit with ENTRY FORM.

Judging Criteria Creativity (40%) Use of materials (20%) The extent to which the lantern captures the essence of the theme (20%) Overall presentation (20%)

Due Date Wednesday, 12 September 2018 by 4pm. Submit to the Radin Mas Primary School General Office.

Prizes will be awarded to Winning Entries Prizes will be awarded to TOP 3 & 10 CONSOLATIONS

What can you do with recycled materials?

Combine different recycled materials… … Vitagen bottles, disposable bowls, plastic container

…box, cans, cup, cellophane paper

Planning Sketch the design on paper. List the materials that you will be using. Source for the materials. Make the lantern.

Materials that you can use to make the lantern… Recycled Materials (Main: plastic bottles, take-a-way containers, plastic egg trays etc) Drawing block, construction paper, cellophane paper, crepe paper etc. Decorative materials (buttons, sequins, ribbons etc.)

Materials that you can use to make the lantern… Coloured markers or other colouring medium Disposable chopstick Wire

Other things that you may need… Scissor Super glue, white glue etc. Scotch tape, double-sided tape String Light bulbs
