Synthesis of a Library of Water-Soluble Bis-Phosphines Derived From 1,3,5-Triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) Donald A. Krogstad, Department of Chemistry, Concordia College Moorhead, MN 56562 Water-Soluble Bis-Phosphines: The metal catalysts of many organic transformations are coordinated with chelating ligands. Therefore, a large array of aqueous-soluble bis-phosphines would be of great value for the “green” conversion of industrial reaction media from organic solvents to water. To expand upon the existing library of such systems, we prepared the first bis-phosphines that utilize two PTA moieties. Our next goal is to study the phosphines’ ligating abilities by combining them with transition metals.
