Words to Know Inquiry - the act of asking questions in order to gather or collect information  Prototype - A first full-scale and usually functional form of a new type or design of a construction Aesthetic - pleasing in appearance Rendering - to reproduce or represent by artistic or verbal means Model - a particular type or version of a product Envisage - to have a mental picture, especially in advance of realization Specification - a detailed description of work to be done or materials to be used in a project

On your trip While your on your tour, complete the directed note-taking activity. Bring your observations back to class to discuss and review. Recommendations before the tour (day 3)

Bell work Day 4: Reflection Based on the company tour you took, give examples of the product design process steps you observed. Day 4

Discussion Describe why product design is an important part of the overall production process.

Discussion Review your notes from the tour Discuss your observations with your team and class

Reflection and observations Write a reflective essay using evidence from the article text, your tour observations and classroom discussions. How does the use of technology increase the ability to clearly state the design idea during the product design process?
