Introduction Two of the four ESS user groups are: The Edamis User group (previously known as the Group of Local Coordinator): long-standing user group with the last meeting in 11/2012; The ESS Metadata Handler User Group: established in 2011 when ESS Metadata applications were deployed.

The Edamis User Group The main results of the Edamis User Group meeting held in 11/2012 were: The Edamis medium and longer term strategy was discussed and agreed (enhancements in the next 2/3 years and then a more complete overhaul of Edamis afterwards); Improvement of the day-to-day management, user services, versioning, functionalities, Edamis metadata etc. is necessary to get Edamis more user friendly for Member states; Edamis should be used better for compliance monitoring purposes; The Edamis authentication should be made more clear; Better communication on Edamis ( e.g. through the DTC) is needed.

The Edamis User Group Attention: The mandate of the Edamis user group is not yet proposed for adoption as the final composition of the ESS user groups needs to be decided upon by the ITDG/DIME. Depending on this decision, the mandate of the Edamis User might need to be adapted.

The ESS Metadata Handler User Group Main activities of the ESS Metadata Handler User Group: More and more ESS reference metadata flows are opened and put into production. Some functionalities of the National Reference Metadata Editor were enhanced; the management module for national user was improved. Regular web-training for national user is organized. Also the Euro SDMX Registry will be covered by this user group. Next physical meeting in 03/2013 (the draft mandate will be discussed at this meeting). Conclusions The IT Directors are asked to comment on the reports provided by the Edamis User group and the ESS Metadata Handler user group; the work done/the deliverables achieved by these two ESS user groups.
