[Preamble Design for IEEE 802.22b Segmentation] July 2014 doc.: IEEE 802.22-14-00xx-00-000b July 2014 [Preamble Design for IEEE 802.22b Segmentation] IEEE P802.22 Wireless RANs Date: 2014-07-15 Authors: Notice: This document has been prepared to assist IEEE 802.22. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). The material in this document is subject to change in form and content after further study. The contributor(s) reserve(s) the right to add, amend or withdraw material contained herein. Release: The contributor grants a free, irrevocable license to the IEEE to incorporate material contained in this contribution, and any modifications thereof, in the creation of an IEEE Standards publication; to copyright in the IEEE’s name any IEEE Standards publication even though it may include portions of this contribution; and at the IEEE’s sole discretion to permit others to reproduce in whole or in part the resulting IEEE Standards publication. The contributor also acknowledges and accepts that this contribution may be made public by IEEE 802.22. Patent Policy and Procedures: The contributor is familiar with the IEEE 802 Patent Policy and Procedures http://standards.ieee.org/guides/bylaws/sb-bylaws.pdf including the statement "IEEE standards may include the known use of patent(s), including patent applications, provided the IEEE receives assurance from the patent holder or applicant with respect to patents essential for compliance with both mandatory and optional portions of the standard." Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair Apurva Mody <apurva.mody@ieee.org> as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE 802.22 Working Group. If you have questions, contact the IEEE Patent Committee Administrator at patcom@iee.org. Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

Objectives Review the comments regarding segmentation July 2014 doc.: IEEE 802.22-14-00xx-00-000b July 2014 Objectives Review the comments regarding segmentation Address the issues to resolve the comments Propose the resolution Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

Comments of Segmentation July 2014 Comments of Segmentation From Letter Ballot #1 CID 218 There was a comment resolution for this comment: 22-14/01r3 Regarding the segmentation concept and local frame preamble The comment is still pending From Letter Ballot #2 CID 45 Regarding the local frame preamble to support segmentation scheme Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

Frame Structure for Distributed Scheduling Mode July 2014 Frame Structure for Distributed Scheduling Mode Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

July 2014 Issues What should be considered for segmentation configuration? At least, three! PHY Mode PHY Mode 1 & PHY Mode 2 Segment size The bandwidth which assigned to distributed relay zone Up to the number of segments Segment start position Indicate the start position of segment which assigned to distributed relay zone Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

Start position of Segment July 2014 Segment Structure Start position of Segment 1 2 3 1*Segment Resolution 2*Segment Resolution 3*Segment Resolution Null 1 2 3 Segment 1 Real BW of 6 MHz Segment Resolution Segment 2 Segment Bandwidth NA Segment 3 Null NA NA Start Position of Segment Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI

July 2014 Proposed Resolutions The number of segment is fixed to 3, but the segment size is variable up to 3 times of segment resolution. Here the segment resolution is 1/3 of occupied bandwidth Required number of local frame preambles: 12 (=6*2) Combination of segment start position and segment size: 6 PHY mode: 2 It is not necessary to identify Cell ID using local frame preamble in PHY Mode 2 Sunghyun Hwang, ETRI
