Jaguar Journal Upcoming Events: Reminder: Monday, Sept. 3- No School, Labor Day Monday, Sept. 10- Bloodmobile at JCES, 2:00-5:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 15- Jaguar Jog 5K Monday, Sept. 17- PTA Meeting, 6:00 pm Tuesday, Sept. 18- SBDM Meeting, 3:30 pm Dear Families- We had a wonderful week at JCES! We are super proud of all of the students who have been “clipping off” the chart since the beginning of the school year. For those that don’t know, each classroom teacher tracks her students’ behavior using a clip chart. All students start the day in the middle on green. As they make good choices, the students can move their clips up. Bad choices result in clipping down. If students make several good choices throughout the day, they can clip off of the classroom chart and onto our chart in the office. Those students are then recognized the next morning during announcements. The students are called to the office to get their clips, sign the Star Board and take a picture. Check out the daily picture on our Facebook page. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Shunk Friday, August 24, 2018 Backpack Tags On Thursday, our students received luggage tags for their backpacks. The tags have the students’ names on them, along with their mode of transportation. Please do not remove the tags from your student’s backpack. This is a safety procedure for the school and helps us ensure that the students get home safely. The Leader in Me Each new school year brings opportunities for academic growth and growth in all areas of development. One of the best ways to help your child realize his worth and leadership potential is to provide an opportunity to lead. Most Leader in Me Schools, like ours, offer student leadership roles as a way to teach: Responsibility Leadership Contribution Leadership roles can also be used at home. To begin: Talk with your child about the leadership role he might be interested in at home. Discuss why he is interested in the role. Ask what leadership qualities your child has that will help. Ask how he will handle homework or other commitments with his new role responsibility. Together, discuss, write, and sign the paper detailing the leadership behavior and expectations of the role. Give your child a week or so to adjust and then discuss how it’s going. This may open a conversation on how to handle things that are too easy or too difficult. Express appreciation and celebrate success! Jaguar Donut Dash On Saturday, September 15th, we will host our annual Jaguar Jog 5k. This year, we are pairing it with a donut breakfast afterwards. In addition to the 5K, there will be a “Fastest Kid in Junction” race around our bus loop. A registration form went home this week explaining all of the details. We hope that you, your family and friends will join us for this fundraiser. Your registration fee will cover your race fee, a t-shirt and breakfast. Reminder: No School on Monday, September 3rd. All proceeds will benefit our students.
