Triad Commute Challenge Overview First held in 2007 Partnership between Triad Air Awareness , Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) and other area transit agencies. Raise awareness about the link between air pollution and transportation choices. Educate Triad about transportation options: public transit, car/van-pool opportunities, walking/bike to work programs and telecommuting Reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT), congestion and fuel costs, improve air quality, reduce dependence on foreign oil

Triad Commute Challenge 2014 Results 5,680 Participants 615 Employers & Schools represented 56 Regional Events 66% Previously Drove Alone 2.8 Million Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) Reduction $384,667 Fuel Savings 1,898 Tons of Emissions Reduced

Triad Commute Challenge Moving Forward Tweaked the event for greater impact Target three segments of Triad: College Students: can text in pledge, or use QR code to pledge online Employers/Employees: Use of online commute calendar and leader boards High School Students: Instagram video submission Take advantage of technology to get pledges, track commutes and engage the public
