How to Draw a Super Hero!

Step 1: plan your composition Decide where you want to your name, theme, and Kryptonite. Block in lightly with pencil. Start with a stick figure - what pose will your hero take? Re-arrange things that don’t work. 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.

Step 2: Draw Face and torso Begin with the face, using the cross as a guide. Draw eyes, nose, mouth, ears Add hair Block out the torso adding a circle or oval for your superheroes symbol Add details: helmet, mask, cape. 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.

Step 3: Draw arms & hands Decide if your superhero is muscular or slim. Sketch in lightly with pencil. Add hands or gloves Block in props that your hero might be holding. 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.

Step 4: Draw waist & Legs Define the waist with a belt or shirt. Add legs and shoes following the lines of your stick figure. 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.

Step 5: Emphasize text Add interest to your name by exaggerating your text. Make sure your theme text fits and add a shape around it. 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.

Step 6: finalize your sketch Add more details to fill the page. Trace your sketch with a fine line marker. Erase your pencil lines with a good quality eraser. Color in your design for extra “POW!” 2nd Day - students will work independently to complete their cartoon.
