When Academic Advisors visit history classrooms, we: 1. Distribute the Course Selection Packet (CSP) which includes: Course Selection Worksheet with Elective Courses on the reverse Transcript current Class Schedule 2. Present Information Whole Class and lead a Q & A 3. Individual review with each student 4. Send the completed CSP home

evening Parent Seminars (choice of 2 nights) to meet with parents That same month, Advisors host evening Parent Seminars (choice of 2 nights) to meet with parents to review the same information we shared with students in classrooms.

Because Advisors collect course selection data from students between October and February, Advisors are not in our offices to take individual parent meetings about course selection during this time. This is why we created the Parent Education Seminar Series – so that Advisors are able to communicate with our parents about Course Selection as a group. Of course, if your need is urgent, and is not related to course selection, your Advisor will absolutely respond to your need. Just email us and describe your concern. If your concern cannot be addressed by email, we are happy to meet with you. After Spring Break, our course selection duties end – though we have many other duties! – still we are more likely to be working in our offices so it is easier for us to meet individually with parents March – May and again August – September. Your Advisors appreciate your patience with our predetermined deadlines and annual cycle of priorities. We hope that by explaining why we do, what we do, when we do it, our parents can better understand why your Advisor’s priorities must shift throughout the school year

Now, let’s walk through course selection together!

The Big Picture: A 4 Year Plan SS SS Transfer students take their required transfer elective, and choose 2 electives/year. Zoned students choose 3 electives/year.   All students must devote at least one full year elective to PE and at least one full year elective to Fine Art.
