Penetration – through around or over This is a phase of play involving three lines of the team. Forwards, defense, midfield. 40x30 with 3 mini goals. The team with possession has a numerical 5v4 advantage. The primary objective is for the team in possession of the ball to determine the best strategy to score goals. The goals are worth different point values. Coaching objectives: read visual cues to determine the best strategy and exploit weaknesses in the defense. Communicate to coordinate player and ball movements.

Target Game This is a phase of play involving three lines of the team. Forwards, defense, midfield. 50x47 7v7 including targets. Target players are incorporated to create depth. The primary objective is for the team in possession of the ball to determine the best strategy to find the target. Objective is to play the target. Coaching objectives: Activity enables the coach to include passing combinations through the lines. To orientate players to create game day conditions. Allow players to regain team shape before serving another ball.

Target Game – Penetration This is a phase of play involving three lines of the team. Forwards, defense, midfield. 50x47 7v7 including targets. Target players are incorporated to create depth. The primary objective is for the team in possession of the ball to determine the best strategy to find the target and find the supporting player that can penetrate the attacking third. Coaching objectives: Activity enables the coach to include passing combinations through the lines. To orientate players to create game day conditions. Allow players to regain team shape before serving another ball.

Target Game – Penetration #2 This is a phase of play involving three lines of the team. Forwards, defense, midfield. 75x47 7v7 plus goalkeepers. Objective is for the team in possession to combine with the striker and penetrate through the side gates to enter the attacking third and attempt to score. See next slide. Coaching objectives: By dividing the middle third in zones and introducing different touch restrictions the players are conditioned to change the rhythm of play.

Penetration – Four Goal Game This is a phase of play involving three lines of the team. Forwards, defense, midfield. 75x47 7v7 plus goalkeepers. The #9 (target) player can join in the attacking third plus one defender. Objective is for the team in possession to combine with the striker and penetrate through the side gates to enter the attacking third and attempt to score. Finish by removing restrictions and flags to see if the players can perform what they practiced in an unrestricted game. Also add more players. Coaching objectives: By dividing the middle third in zones and introducing different touch restrictions the players are conditioned to change the rhythm of play.
