Hargrave JROTC Falcon Battalion Deer Park Skills Challenge 18 February 2017 Event: Deer Park High School JROTC Battalion will host a Military Skills meet from 0800- 1600 Saturday, February 18, 2017, to enhance teamwork, build camaraderie, and the spirit of competition and good sportsmanship among JROTC Units. Communication Objectives: Competitive challenge involves running, physical fitness, swimming and academics a very demanding skills meet, not only because of the terrain, but because the participants must make leadership decisions, and keep track of the distance covered even in water. Although Deer Park challenges both the mind and the body, the competitor’s ability to think under pressure and make wise decisions is sometimes more important than speed or endurance. Activities: 1. Orienteering – Orienteering (Male and Female) 2. Leadership Reaction Course (LRC) 3. Mini JLAB (Military History, Algebra) 4. Male Physical Fitness Team 5 Female Physical Fitness Team 6. Color Guard (Male) 7. Color Guard (Female) 7. Ranger Swim- Described Below 8. Combat Inner Tube Relay 10. Tug of War Key Take-Aways: Getting the Cadets prepared weeks after Christmas break paid huge dividends in our success during the competition. Which led to a to younger Cadets performing above duty in dominating the skills meet. The Falcon Battalion took home (5) trophy’s out of (10) and was the overall Champion of the Deer Park Military Skills Competition 2017.
