Warm Up Ball Skills Selecting teams using the grid marked out Pupils find a position Select teams horizontally or vertically

Warm Up Ball Skills Set up playing area as a grid Mark out positions using cones – if possible use same coloured cones to delimit pairs Use this set up to play some warm up / catching skills activities: 1BASIC: Throw one ball across the pair STEP UP: Throw two balls across the pair EXTENSION: Throw three balls across the pair etc 2BASIC: Throw one ball to partner, and then start a zig zag, down the line and back STEP UP: Start a second ball after first one thrown EXTENSION: Add in additional balls VARIATION: Call out name of person you are throwing to

Warm Up Ball Skills First pair throws single ball to opposite Opposite throws on a diagonal to the next pair Once first pair has thrown the ball they run down the row to reach the end and take up new positions VARIATIONS: Use two balls – but the first pair do not move until both balls have been thrown After ball is thrown to and from first pair, they swap places and run down the row to new positions
