Innovative Motor Designs for Electric Cars Come to Life The goal is to improve electric vehicle motor designs through the reduction of mass, volume, cost, and system losses and the increase of power capability, reliability, and manufacturability, all while maintaining their modularity. Used COMSOL Multiphysics® to perform a 2D electromagnetic field analysis coupled with a genetic algorithm implemented in MATLAB® software and to study the thermal behavior of the electromagnetic components and identify temperature hotspots, enabling manufacturers to prevent destructive motor events.
