ARE YOU PREPARED FOR YOUR FUTURE PLANS?

What direction will your life go after high school?

Coming Soon to a Classroom Near You! ACCUPLACER is a college- placement assessment tool that helps identify your level of college readiness. ACCUPLACER scores will help you plan for your future.

ACCUPLACER is NOT a Test! Tests are graded: You’re not being graded and your scores are not reported to any other college or university without your permission. Tests are usually timed: The ACCUPLACER is not timed, you may take whatever time you need to complete each section.

ACCUPLACER is a Placement Assessment A Placement assessment is a tool that colleges and universities use to determine class placement for all students who attend the college. Placement assessments are usually required for entrance into, as well as a minimum score which must be met to qualify for, a majority of the classes colleges offer. Placement assessments are NOT used for admissions into a college.

ACCUPLACER for Everyone Have you made other plans, or are you unsure, about what to do after high school? You may not have any plans right now to go to college, but after completing the ACCUPLACER assessment, you may find that you are college ready and use that information to make decisions and plans! High school student who plans to graduate and do something…anything? The ACCUPLACER will help you discover your academic strengths and weaknesses so you can adjust accordingly prior to high school graduation. Light Bulb!

Planning for Your Future-College Bound Going to a 4-year College or University? ACCUPLACER will get you familiar with a college placement assessment Your ACCUPLACER scores may qualify you for dual enrollment opportunities College courses taken while a student is still in high school Going to a 2-year Technical or Community College? Your ACCUPLACER scores may be used for up to two years at all technical colleges in South Carolina

What will ACCUPLACER be Assessing? Reading Comprehension Sentence Structure Mathematics All sections of the assessment are UNTIMED All sections of the assessment are COMPUTERIZED Each question on the assessment is MULTIPLE CHOICE

On the Day of ACCUPLACER: Get proper rest. Eat a good breakfast and/or lunch. Avoid letting outside stressors negatively influence your day.

Other Tips for Success: Read the directions for each section thoroughly. Take your time. The ACCUPLACER assessment is not timed; do not feel rushed; just do your best. Answer EVERY test question. You are not penalized for guessing, and scoring will provide useful placement information even if answers are guesses. When in doubt, go with your instinct. If you believe your first choice answer may not be correct, change it.

Why Care? By taking the ACCUPLACER seriously, you avoid being placed into, and having to pay for, foundational classes you may not need that cover material you already know. Whether you are going to college, joining the military, or going to work, being able to show that you are college ready is valuable. Knowing where you stand academically is crucial to planning your future.

After the ACCUPLACER Step 1: Receive and review your scores with a TCTC representative during site visits to your high school for a post- assessment presentation. Step 2: Use your scores to… determine if you are college ready and can participate in dual enrollment options, both technical and university transfer, during senior year. assess what areas you may need to work on prior to high school graduation. Step 3: Talk to your guidance counselor about what YOU plan to do senior year.
