English 2 - November 3rd Agenda You Will Need Warm-Up: Euphemism Complete Writing Connection: Soviet Animal Farm Dystopia Packets Think-Pair-Share Homework You Will Need Animal Farm Writing implement Your outline Paper for writing response

Warm-Up: Euphemism Because of the hard winter, the rations had to be “readjusted”. What is actually meant and why use “readjusted”? The puppies and piglets are separated from the other animals for “education”. What is actually meant and why use “education”?

Writing Connection: Soviet Animal Farm Step 1: Read your excerpt either about Collectivization or The Great Purge. Annotate for parallels to Animal Farm. Step 2: Fill out your outline, turn in. Step 3: Using the outline, create an organized, two paragraph response. (TODAY)

Homework: Due Thursday, 11/5 Read Chapter 10. Complete a 1 page dialectical journal. Focus: Reasons the animals do not rebel

Think-Pair-Share Think quietly about the question first. When signaled, talk to someone near you. Students will be called on to share with the class. What does Boxer’s tragic death correspond to in the Soviet Union under Stalin?
