Residential Light Fixtures ENERGY STAR ® Specifications Additions to Specs Pierrette LeBlanc, Office of Energy Efficiency June 4, 2008

Benefits The ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures can reduce their electricity consumption and costs by about 66 percent compared to a standard fixture Saving with SSL technology will be even greater The purchase cost of ENERGY STAR qualified light fixtures varies. Some fixtures are available at equal pricing to non-qualified fixtures, while others may cost about 10% more. However, fixtures come with a second price tag the cost of energy to operate them. Distribute light more efficiently and evenly than standard fixtures.

New Version 4.1 vs. 4.0 No changes in performance requirements Added requirements specific to GU-24 based integrated fluorescent lamps Fixtures using LED light engines can now qualify as ENERGY STAR

GU-24 Based Integrated Fluorescent Lamps Efficiency levels required: –>=50 LPW for lamps below 30 watts –>=60 LPW for lamps over or equal to 30 watts –>=40 LPW for covered, reflector and dimmable lamps Additional 1000 hour lumen maintenance of 90% or more GU-24 functional for 2880 cycles at 60 °C or 720 at 80°C Labelling requirements for GU-24 replacement lamps

LED Fixtures Only applies to fixtures using LED light engines Recesses canister fixtures using LED are not eligible LED light engine efficacy: 50 LPW for uncovered light engines and 40 LPW for covered LED light engines Driver temperature Lumen maintenance –Indoor: L 70 >= hours –Outdoor: L 70 >= hours Minimum Power Factor required: 0.7 And more * LED Light Engine includes LED modules, LED driver, electrical and mechanical interfaces and an integral heat sink; is designed to accept additional components.
