Youth Participation – The IARS Way For years now, IARS has championed a youth-led approach to its programmes so that we can enable young people to actively engage in society and challenge polices and practices affecting them by: Empowering and enabling young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, to influence, shape and inform policy and practices that affect them, the media and other stakeholders; Providing youth-led accredited skills development training to young people. Providing youth-led policy development, research and voice to the youth-led sector and young people at local, national and European levels. Working with governments and statutory bodies (nationally & European) to ensure that youth issues and the views of the youth-led sector are heard and disseminated.

IARS and Young People in Europe Care2Work: Young Black and Minority Ethnic Carers – Barriers and Opportunities for Employment and Education Care 2 Work is a 2 – year programme (started in May 2015) funded under the new Erasmus+ Key Action 2 in the field of youth that aims to: Tackle the barriers faced by young carers from Black and Minority ethnic groups (BME) in accessing employment, education and training. Empower young BME carers by recognising and cultivating skills developed through caring and turning them into a sustainable skill-set that can be transferred to employment. Increase the capacity of service providers, youth professionals and educational services in the areas of integration, equity, inclusion and discrimination. Promote cultural and institutional change that can be embedded within our modern European societies. The partnership The programme is designed and delivered in partnership with our 3 European Partners, namely: Anziani e non solo (Italy), Linnaeus University (Sweden) and the Family and Children Care Centre (Greece). The IARS International Institute acts as a Coordinator

IARS and Young People in Europe Abused No More “Safeguarding Youth and Empowering Professionals” (“AnM”) Assess the legal literacy of marginalised youth at risk of social exclusion in the UK, in relation to multiple and intersectional discrimination. Particular emphasis was put on different types of abuse faced by young migrant women. Bridge gaps in existing services in relation to anti-discrimination and training needs of young marginalised people and inform the development of a youth-led evidence based training programme for marginalised youth and service providers. Promote youth empowerment by providing marginalised youth with an opportunity to take a leadership role in the design and implementation of the research and to inform the design of a training programme that meets their immediate needs with regard to discrimination The partnership The project is delivered in partnership with four other countries and in particular Stowarzyszenie Interwencji Prawnej (Poland) - Action for Equality, Support, Antiracism - KISA (Cyprus) - Anziani e Non Solo (Italy) - Romanian U.S. Alumni Association (Romania)
