10 Tips for conducting successful EIA consultation Begin consultation as soon as possible, you should engage with public bodies throughout the EIA process Make information available in a variety of formats, strongly consider ease of access for different groups Consider timing and availability of consultation events in order to promote wide participation Choose consultation methods that reflect the nature of the policy and stakeholders involved Ensure consultation lasts for the allotted time – ideally 12 weeks Make it easy and convenient for consultants to respond Present information in jargon-free approachable formats Consider providing travel or other accommodation for consultation participants in order to gain necessary responses Ensure staff are trained sufficiently in consultation methods and practice Provide feedback to all the respondents on consultation outcomes and provide access to the final EIA report Linked with consultation page for further information/explanation
