Las preposiciones de lugar (WS Apuntes ESTAR + Prepositions of location) To find out where something is located, use the question, ¿Dónde está…? Remember that the verb must change according to the person or object being looked for. ¿Dónde estoy? = Where am I? ¿Dónde estás? = Where are you (informal)? ¿Dónde está usted? = Where are you (formal)? ¿Dónde está él/ella? = Where is he/she? ¿Dónde está la estación de autobuses? = Where is bus station? ¿Dónde estamos? = Where are we? ¿Dónde están mis maletas? = Where are my suitcases? To answer, you start with the correct conjugation of ESTAR + the location. ¿Dónde está la farmacia?  (La farmacia) está en la plaza al lado del banco.

Common Prepositions: to the right of = a la derecha de to the left of = a la izquierda de next to = al lado de around = alrededor de around here (vague) = por aquí through = por close; near = cerca de far = lejos de under; below = debajo de (something) / abajo (depth) on top of; over = encima de (something) / arriba de (height) in front of = delante de/ enfrente de behind= detrás de outside of = fuera de (something) / afuera (motion) in /on = en inside of = dentro de (something) / adentro (motion) between = entre toward = hacia
