Case # 1 Dr. Laura Lamps A 32 year old Caucasian man presented to the Hepatology Clinic after he was found to have elevated transaminases during a routine physical. AST was 56, ALT 102, normal bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. Upon questioning, the patient admitted to IV drug use for three months in the past, but also said he had worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and received multiple needle sticks. He complained of fatigue but no other symptoms. He was referred for liver biopsy.
