Algebraic Expression A number sentence without an equal sign. It will have at least two terms and one operations.

Equation A mathematical sentence formed by setting two expression equal to each other.

Term Each part of an expression that is separated by either addition or subtraction. Ex: 12 + 3y2 - 4x has 3 terms.

Variable A letter a letter or symbol used to represent an unknown or unspecified number. Ex: 15w

Coefficient Numbers that are multiplied by at least one variable. Ex: 3a

Constant A specific number whose value does not change. Ex: y + 5

Solution A value of the variable that makes the equation true. Ex: 7 is the solution to x+3=10.
