Bell Work Research: The Executive Branch

3 Branches of Government In political systems based on the principle of separation of powers, authority is distributed among several branches (executive, legislative, judicial) an attempt to prevent the concentration of power in the hands of a small group of people.

The Executive Branch The Executive Branch is represented by the President, the Vice- President and the Cabinet.

The President of the USA The President of the United States is considered to be the world's most powerful political figure, as the leader of the world’s only global superpower. The job of President includes being the commander-in-chief of the world's most expensive military and leading the nation with the largest economy.

Qualifications to be President You must be 35 years old to be elected President You must be a natural born citizen of the United States.

Power of the President The office of US President holds significant power around the world. The composition and powers of the President are established by article two of the United States Constitution.

Election of the President The President is indirectly elected by the people through the Electoral College to a four-year term, and is one of only two nationally elected federal officers, the other being the Vice President of the United States.

The Vice President The Vice President becomes the President if something happens to the President. Nine Vice Presidents have assumed the Presidency without having been elected to the office, by either a President’s death or resignation. Mike Pence, the Current VP

The Cabinet The President’s Cabinet is a body of high-ranking government officials, which consist of top leaders of different departments. Included in the President’s Cabinet are the Secretary of State, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Education among others. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson
