Zilina region
Geography Žilina region is on North and is third biggest region in Slovakia. Borders with Czech in northwest and with Poland in North. Region lie in the North Karpaty. River Váh divides region on two parts.
History Region belonged to the Veľkomoravská ríša. Versus mongolian army were built castles. In 16 century have citizens feared of turkish army. In 19 century by the river were built railroads.
Attractions of the Žilina region The oldest public library in Slovakia is Library Gaspar Fejérpataky-Belopotockého in Liptovsky Mikulas. Coldest village in Slovakia is village Oravská lesná. The largest wooden church in Europe is located in the village Svätý Kríž.
