Preparing For Your CA Remember that this first Controlled Assessment is called Practical Investigation It’s rather unusual and you probably won’t do anything like it in other subjects You explore a topic supplied by our exam board, OCR, who set a series of tasks for you to tackle ‘Practical investigation’ means some of the tasks are research-based and some are hands-on So it combines written work & practical work

Preparing For Your CA The good news is that everyone has a great chance of doing well on the Investigation You don’t need to be a great programmer Or to have lots of nerdy knowledge The whole idea is that the Investigation starts from material we’ve covered in A451 Theory but them goes into new areas So it’s about being motivated & organised Lots of students actually enjoy doing it!

Preparing For Your CA The Investigation deliberately extends the candidate’s work beyond the topics that are taught in the main course. The aim is for students to have a stimulating experience.

Preparing For Your CA The Investigation tasks are designed to be open-ended to various degrees. It is intended that candidates find their own, preferably original, solutions to problems.
