Characteristics of Images Images can be described in many ways but the more most important are: Location Orientation Size Type
Location Images can be Closer to the mirror than they really are Further from the mirror than they really are The same distance from the mirror as the original object
Location mirror Original object closer same as further
Orientation Images can be: Upright compared to the original image (think “same as”) Inverted compared to the original image (think “upside down”)
Orientation original image upright mirror inverted
Size Images can be: Smaller than the original image Larger than the original image The same size as the original image
Size mirror larger original image same as smaller
Type Images can be: Real (can be seen on a surface such as a screen) Virtual (the image does not exist in the real world, only in your brain which is fooled into thinking it exists)
